An independent private institute, founded by practitioners.
MIAAI was founded in 2025 by technology and operations leaders who kept meeting the same failure: capable organisations unable to put AI into production. We created the training we wish our people had had.
What we are — and what we are not
The Malta Institute of Applied Artificial Intelligence is a private, independent institute registered in Malta, with its premises at Tower Business Centre, Birkirkara Hill, Swatar, and teaching residencies in Valletta.
Our programmes confer professional qualifications of the Institute ("Professional Master" as an institute designation). They are not state-accredited university degrees and we do not claim MFHEA or FEL accreditation. We would rather say this plainly than have you find it out later.
Curriculum is reviewed each cycle with practising industry partners. Faculty are part-time practitioner-instructors drawn from operating companies; MIAAI does not claim research output or academic ranks it does not hold.
Governance
Programme standards are safeguarded by an Academic Board of founding faculty and external practitioners, which approves curriculum changes and sits on capstone review boards. The Board meets twice a cycle. The Institute is wholly privately funded through tuition; it takes no public research funding and carries no degree-award indemnity beyond its own qualification.
Why Malta
An English-speaking European jurisdiction, a crossroads of Mediterranean service and iGaming operations, and a travel time under three hours from most of Europe for a three-day residency. The founding cohort comes from Malta, Spain, Italy, the UK and the Gulf.
